Help Us preserve Scots language recordings
Do you have Scots language recordings tucked away in a loft, a cupboard or a family collection? Perhaps an old recording of recitals at a Burns Supper, a folk club session, a ceilidh in the village hall, or bairns singing at school.
If it was never released commercially and can’t be found online, we’d like to hear about it.
Get in touch at info@scotsoun.co.uk You don’t need to send anything at first. Just tell us:
• What it is: poetry, prose, song, conversation, performance
• Who can be heard on it, if known
• When and where it was recorded, even roughly
• What format it’s on: reel-to-reel, cassette, CD, digital file or other
• Permissions: whether the speakers or singers, or their families, would be happy for it to be shared
We’ll let you know whether it fits the archive and how it could be copied safely. Your originals stay with you unless you choose otherwise.
Every recording added widens the picture of how Scots has sounded across regions, generations and occasions. By letting us know about them, you help make sure those voices are still heard by Scots speakers at home and around the world for generations to come.
